The Author/Bible Translator
Apostle Roy C. Okonkwo is a Bible Translator, Bible Teacher, and a Global Shepherd. He has spoken Nigerian Pidgin since childhood. He speaks fluent English and Igbo which is his mother tongue.
Apostle Roy was ordained and commissioned by God into ministry in 1989. He received the divine call from our Lord Jesus Christ in Kano, a city in Northern Nigeria. The appointment is that he is one of the vessels the Lord would use to generate and distribute the Lord’s spiritual and material blessings to God’s people all over the world.
For ten years, he disobeyed the call until one day he received a message from the Holy Spirit through one of His servants that if he did not obey the Lord’s call, he would be dead in three days. He immediately obeyed because he did not want to die. This brought about the commencement of the translation of the Holy Bible into Nigerian Pidgin (NP) in February 1999.
As time went by, Apostle Roy developed a deep love and passion for the translation work and the call from the Lord. He recognized the desire our Lord had for the Bible to be made available to Nigerians in NP and that no one had taken this especially important work seriously.
There had been numerous challenges throughout the years including homelessness, hunger, and loneliness, but he remained steadfast and unwavering regarding the work of the Lord.
The Holy Spirit revealed to Apostle Roy the Nigerian Pidgin orthography which he used in translating the Bible into NP. The Holy Spirit also revealed to him how to form the language’s alphabet. The orthography was later standardized at the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, by a team of experts in orthographies of Nigerian languages, linguists, experts in Nigerian Pidgin, educationists, and Apostle Roy.
‘Mẹ́sí Krístián Nius’, which was the first magazine written wholly in the Nigerian Pidgin standardized orthography, was done by Apostle Roy. He also built the first ever website written 100% in Nigerian Pidgin using the standardized orthography. Click here to visit the website.
Apostle Roy is the President & Founder of Mercy Christian Ministry International, and Rodakych LLC. From 1977 to 1996, he supervised many businesses in Nigeria as well as establishing his own companies where he functioned as the CEO. He holds an Associate Degree in Biblical Studies.

Pastor Daphne H. Okonkwo is a Bible Translation Consultant and Bible Teacher. She is a mother-tongue speaker of English. She is Vice President of Mercy Christian Ministry International and Rodakych LLC. She is President of Bridge of Hope & Grace International as well.
Daphne has been a passionate believer in Christ since age 15 and was ordained as a Pastor in 2003. Despite many challenges in her life, she has remained a faithful and dedicated follower of Jesus Christ.
While working fulltime in the healthcare industry, she actively worked in church administration, teaching, preaching and evangelism among other things. Daphne served the Lord in the marketplace for 41 years in the healthcare industry.
Pastor Daphne started Nigerian Pidgin Bible Translation Consultation in 2011.
In 2019 God stopped her from working in the marketplace to continue to serve Him on a fulltime basis in her current role as a Bible Translation Consultant and many other Kingdom functions alongside her husband.
Pastor Daphne has a heart to see teenage and young adult males and females reach their fullest potential in life through life skills development and education based on a Biblical foundation, and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Daphne holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Healthcare Administration. She has worked as a Registered Nurse, Nursing Director, Healthcare Risk Manager, Patient Safety Director, Consultant for Hospitals and Surgery Centers, and Accreditation Surveyor for Ambulatory Surgery Centers. She holds several healthcare certifications.
